Russian soldiers run for their lives as Ukraine forces target troops in Donbas

Ukrainian troops target Russian soldiers - who they call "uninvited tourists" - in the Donbas region. The footage shows a number of people, reportedly Russian soldiers, walking single file into trees near to where a Ukrainian mine goes off. The images were obtained from the K-2 Battle Group, which is part of the 54th Mechanized Brigade, which has been fighting in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine since 2014. The K-2 Battle Group said: "We continue to show the voyage of uninvited 'tourists' on foot through the streets of Marinka, in the Donetsk region. "A crowd of 'tourists' walked by looking around, but they did not see the surprise on the road, which was set by the guys from the reconnaissance group K2 with the help of the no-less-famous 'construction' brigade). "The surprise worked and the uninvited 'tourists' did not like it [...]." They signed off with the now famous slogan "Slava Ukraini!", which means "Glory to Ukraine!" in English. Russian troops invaded Ukraine on 24th February in what the Kremlin is still calling a "special military operation". Today marks the 104th day of the campaign. From 24th February to 6th June, the total combat losses of Russian troops stand at around 31,250 personnel, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ukrainian military also claims that Russia has lost 1,386 tanks, 3,400 armoured fighting vehicles, 690 artillery systems, 207 multiple launch rocket systems, 96 anti-aircraft systems, 211 warplanes, 176 helicopters, 2,395 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, 13 vessels, 551 unmanned aerial vehicles, 53 units of special equipment, and 125 cruise missiles. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Centre for Strategic Communications (StratCom) said on 6th June that Russian Major General Roman Kutuzov was killed in a battle near Popasna in the Luhansk region. This has now been confirmed by Russian state media. The United Kingdom and the United States have announced that they are sending long-range missile systems to Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned of more attacks in Ukraine if the West sends long-range weapons. Russian missiles struck Kyiv on Sunday in the first assault on the Ukrainian capital in weeks. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Russian attacks on the cities of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk have turned them into "dead cities". But he added that Ukrainian forces could still hold Severodonetsk despite being outnumbered. Russia's ambassador to the United Nations has walked out of a Security Council meeting after his country was blamed for triggering a global food crisis. "You cannot seriously sit down with Putin anymore" - German diplomat Christoph Heusgen

Christoph Heusgen has worked in foreign policy for more than 40 years, has caused a stir with many an edgy word during his career as a diplomat. This year the 66-year-old took over the Munich Security Conference (MSC), a globally respected forum for foreign and security policy. For months, and not just in light of the Ukraine conflict, he has been calling for a united community of "states that enforce international law." Heusgen is considered one of Germany's most experienced and respected diplomats. Although he was late to serve formally as an ambassador, he has been politically active at the European level and in the United States, though never in Africa, Asia or Latin America. Heusgen, a member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), became active in foreign policy posts early in his career. From 1993 to 1997, he was deputy head of the minister's office for the then German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel. From 1999 to 2005, he headed the Brussels office and political staff of Javier Solana, then High Representative for the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy. After Angela Merkel's victory in the 2005 election, the new chancellor brought Heusgen, a Rhineland Catholic, into the chancellor's office as her foreign policy adviser. He was at the chancellor's side on virtually all of her foreign trips and has been excellently networked ever since. Occasionally, he traveled without her, but for her: When it emerged in the fall of 2013 that US intelligence agencies had wiretapped Merkel's phone, cooling transatlantic relations, Heusgen was part of the German delegation that sought clarification in Washington. Months before Merkel's fourth federal election victory in 2017, she had to let Heusgen go. The diplomat, who had already spent some time studying in the US in the 1980s and had worked at the German Consulate General in Chicago after 1983, now finally became an ambassador. For four years, he was Germany's permanent representative at the United Nations in New York. In April 2019 and July 2020, he presided over meetings of the UN Security Council, the top-level body to which Germany does not belong permanently but in which it wants to have a say. Here too, on occasion, he did not shy away from describing Russia's and China's blocking of UN aid deliveries to war-torn Syria as "cynical." Both expressed irritation at Germany's stance. Heusgen is certainly thought of as a man of clear words, clearer than cross the lips of many other ambassadors. This has perhaps been all the more true since 2021, when he returned to Germany. Perhaps he has been so outspoken about the current conflict in Ukraine because he was involved in the difficult negotiations that led to the Minsk Agreement in 2014, which brought Ukraine, Russia and the separatists together but fell apart soon after. There's a new move from Google Maps that's going to piss Russia off. According to this, Google Maps reportedly made Russian military bases visible to users. Google banned advertising from Russian users after the Kremlin invaded Ukraine, and Russian authorities accused Google of starting a “information war” with the company blocking Russian media on YouTube. A new move came today from the United States-based technology giant after the strings between Russia and Google were stretched. According to new information, Google Maps made Russia's strategic military facilities visible to users. Following this move, new details of Russia's military infrastructure were revealed. In the search of Google Maps, images of military bases, intercontinental ballistic missiles, launch ramps, marine facilities and key command points all over Russia have become accessible. Some of the new footage revealed were Admiral Kuznetsov's aircraft carrier, a nuclear weapons depot near Murmansk, submarines in Kamcatka, the far East Peninsula, and images of a military air base in Kursk, a Western city just 150 kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border. Under normal circumstances, satellite images of military facilities are traditionally presented to users of blurry or lower quality by Google Maps to maintain their classified status. But with this move from Google wing, this has changed. "Everyone can now see the Russian military infrastructure at a resolution of about 0.5 meters per pixel," the Twitter post by the Ukrainian Armed Forces said.

This response, he argues, is the result of a dark symbiotic relationship that the country has developed with ill-gotten Russian money. For years, Russian wealth has poured into Britain with few questions asked, helping to finance political campaigns and buoying the luxury property market. Russian oligarchs have been so happy to avail themselves of Britain’s laissez-faire regulatory climate to park their wealth and launder dirty money that the nation’s capital has earned the moniker Londongrad. And that, Pie argues, is why the British government has been reluctant to step up the pressure on the Russian elite. This guy, Randy Cramer, wants you to believe he lived and fought aliens on Mars for almost two decades, we’re going to break down his body language, while definitely not laughing at him, that’s next. C canimorsus was first described in 1961 in a football athlete who had previously had a splenectomy and then sustained a dog bite afterwards. Symptoms appeared within days and severe sepsis was found. C canimorsus was originally DF-2 (dysgonic fermenter) by the US Centers for Disease Control (US CDC) before 1989 when the Capnocytophaga species are formally classified. C canimorsus infections are not tracked in the United States as they are rare. The Netherlands has reported less than 0.7 cases per 1 million people per year, but this reporting is subject to bias. In immunocompetent, healthy individuals, C canimorsus is usually handled well by the immune system. This is even in the case of animal bites. The bacteria is commonly found in dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig mouths. These cases are patients who I, or my colleagues have seen. UCL Lunch Hour Lecture: The origins of the 'ndrangheta of Calabria: Italy's most powerful mafia Professor John Dickie (UCL Italian) On 15 August 2007, six young men with origins in the Italian region of Calabria were ambushed and murdered in the German steel town of Duisburg. This was northern Europe's St Valentine's Day massacre, the worst ever mafia bloodbath outside Italy and the United States. Suddenly, journalists across the globe were struggling with what the New York Times called an 'unpronounceable name': 'ndrangheta (en-drang-get-ah.) In the 1990s, the 'ndrangheta placed itself in a leading position in the European wholesale cocaine market by dealing direct with South American producers. It is now thought to be the wealthiest and most powerful of Italy's major criminal brotherhoods. But how, when, and why did it first emerge?
